Tennessee Internship Consortium in Psychology

Preparing for a Future in School Psychology

Training School Psychologists since 1994.

Headquartered in Knoxville, Tennessee, with site locations in the surrounding East Tennessee area, the Tennessee Internship Consortium in Psychology (TIC) offers qualified school psychology doctoral students training and a range of field experiences as they prepare to begin their professional careers. The internship provides interns opportunities to work in both regular and special education settings as well as clinical environments. TIC is accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) and is a member of the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC).

TWO TRAINING TRACKS

At the most recent Consortium Board meeting, members from each participating agency met to discuss splitting the internship positions into two separate tracks to better represent the position requirements and locations. The Board approved the split into a track that is entirely school-based, and a second track that is half in a school setting and half in a clinic setting. Each track has a separate number for the Match:

School-Based:              155611

Hybrid School/Clinic:   155612

For application purposes, we anticipate applicants still applying, in general to TIC, and applicants can then express their interest in a track in their cover letter. The initial selection and  interview process will continue as it has in prior years, and interviews will be conducted across agencies since the Hybrid track involves current school districts/systems. However, when it comes time to rank for the Match, applicants may decide to rank only one track or both tracks depending on their interests and preferences. Interns, regardless of track, will continue to participate together in all aspects of the internship program including group supervision and  didactic training.  More information to come, so check back on the website. In the meantime, if you have questions, please contact the Training Director, Dr. Brian Wilhoit at bwilhoit@utk.edu.
